Digital assistants for a more stable injection moulding process

One of the key highlights of ENGEL’s presentation at Plast 2026 is the use of intelligent process control systems. Within the ENGEL inject AI digital solutions framework, ENGEL will present digital assistants that support production optimisation and automatic adjustment of process parameters.

Solutions such as iQ weight control, iQ clamp control, iQ flow control and iQ process observer help improve process stability, repeatability, energy efficiency and scrap reduction. Digitalisation becomes a practical tool for improving everyday production, not just an additional machine function.

EVA digital assistant and the autonomous ENGEL e-mac production cell

The autonomous production cell based on the all-electric ENGEL e-mac injection moulding machine is one of the key attractions. This application shows how injection moulding is entering a new phase. The process is moving from constant monitoring towards a system that adapts automatically to defined quality requirements.

ENGEL will also present ENGEL Virtual Assistant – EVA, an AI-based digital assistant for process engineers and operators. EVA provides recommendations, guides users through troubleshooting step by step and enables faster access to technical information.

For production teams, this means shorter downtimes, faster troubleshooting and easier access to expert knowledge. This is especially important when experienced personnel are not immediately available on the shop floor.

ENGEL victory for lightweight design and thermoplastic composites

The exhibition will also include a fully automated production cell for manufacturing drone rotor blades made of thermoplastic composites using tape-sandwich technology. At the heart of the system is the ENGEL victory tie-bar-less injection moulding machine with a clamping force of 1,200 kN, combined with an ENGEL easix robot.

This application demonstrates the production of lightweight, durable and functional parts in an automated cycle. It also reduces the need for secondary machining. The technology can be applied to larger components, including covers for high-voltage batteries in the automotive industry.

WINTEC t-win 5500 for efficient series production

In addition to ENGEL solutions, the booth will also feature the WINTEC t-win 5500 injection moulding machine with a clamping force of 5,500 kN, equipped with an ENGEL viper 40 linear robot.

The machine will produce transparent PP crates with a part weight of 232 grams and a cycle time of approximately 11–12 seconds. This application demonstrates the advantages of a standardised two-platen machine concept, short cycle times and integrated automation in applications where high productivity, reliability and competitive unit costs are essential.
