Frigel Cap Cooler – special solution for post-cooling plastic caps

What do Frigel special solutions include?

Special solutions are developed for situations where standard cooling systems are not enough. Cap Cooler addresses cap post-cooling challenges after injection molding, while Mold Dryer eliminates condensation on mould surfaces when using low-temperature cooling water. The result is dimensional stability, less scrap, and more reliable packaging operations.

Frigel Cap Cooler – post-cooling unit for plastic caps

Cap Cooler – post-cooling of caps

Cap Cooler is a specially designed unit for uniform post-cooling of plastic caps (closures) after injection molding. The goal is to ensure dimensional stability before sorting, conveying, or packaging. With controlled cooling, deformation and ovalization are reduced, and cap quality remains consistent even at high production speeds.

Multiple models are available, including configurations capable of processing up to ~70,000 caps per hour or more, depending on cap size, weight, and geometry. Cap Cooler integrates easily into existing preform and closure lines.

Benefits

  • Easy integration into existing cap production lines
  • Low energy consumption relative to capacity
  • Adaptable to different cap sizes and throughput requirements
  • Very small footprint (approx. 0.95 m²)
  • Stable quality and reduced scrap rate

Features

  • Compact design, standard on castors (optional adjustable feet)
  • Product-contact surfaces in stainless steel
  • Variable-frequency drives for fan and drum speed to suit different cap types and sizes
  • Optional H13 HEPA filters at the air inlet
  • Special versions for demanding ambient conditions (T > 38 °C)
Frigel Mold Dryer – industrial air dehumidifier for the mould area

Mold Dryer – air dehumidification

Mold Dryer is an air dehumidification system for the mould area, developed to prevent condensation on mould surfaces when using low-temperature cooling water. Condensation can lead to dripping, surface defects, and increased scrap. By supplying dry, controlled air around the mould, optimal conditions are maintained for stable operation and high-quality parts.

This solution is particularly suitable for packaging applications: extrusion blow moulding and conventional injection molding, where low cooling temperatures are used to shorten cycle times.

Benefits

  • Production is independent of external climate conditions
  • Consistent product quality without condensation marks
  • Reduced maintenance and extended mould lifetime
  • Significant energy savings compared to traditional solutions

Features

  • 8 models with airflow rates from 300 to 4,000 m³/h
  • Adsorption dehumidification system with an active metal-silicate rotor
  • Pre- and post-coolers for fine control of temperature and humidity
  • Compact design for easy installation
  • Dew point down to -9.5 °C
  • PLUS version with digital PLC control (optional)

Typical applications

Cap Cooler and Mold Dryer are used in modern packaging plants where cycle speed, dimensional stability, and product appearance are critical. They are most commonly applied in:

  • Production of caps and closures for the beverage and food industries
  • Injection and blow molding lines for bottles and containers
  • Packaging operations where condensation can damage labels or product appearance
  • Processes using low-temperature mould cooling to reduce cycle times
