Sretenje is a significant day in our history, marking the moment in 1804 when the First Serbian Uprising began in Orašac, laying the foundation for Serbia’s fight for independence from the Ottoman Empire. Additionally, on February 15, 1835, Serbia adopted its first constitution, one of the most progressive in Europe at the time. This day symbolizes freedom, independence, and the path toward a modern Serbian state.
